This is the season of thinking about freedom. During the seder we read that everyone should feel as though we, ourselves, have been freed. Maybe we were freed from slavery to Egypt but I think there are still things going on today that keep us from being free because we cannot be free until everyone is free. What are today’s issues from which we would like everyone to be free?
Please respond with a reply to this blog with one or more issues that trouble you.
I will start: I am very troubled by the lack of cooperation within our government. How can anything be accomplished when our government representatives continually point fingers at each other; for democracy to work, there has to be a dialog; I don’t see it.

I hope all the board members remember the workshop we had a few weeks ago. We were asked to talk about why each of us served on the board. The consensus was that serving Temple in this way was a privilege and we all “loved” Temple. I think this means different things to each of us, so I ask you to elaborate by completing one or both of the following sentences:
1. Temple helps me in a personal way by …
2. I think I would love Temple even more if …
My answers:
Temple helps me in a personal way by providing me a way to use my technical and business skills and a great source for camaraderie.
I think I would love Temple even more if we had more people to help with activities.

Temple’s blog – what is it?
Blog is short for Web Log and is a facility where one can write about anything and have it seen by anyone and even invite comments and opinions from others. Our vision for the Temple Blog is to provide a new communication mechanism; one that works in two directions so every congregant can, and should, make comments and let their opinions be known.
For example, last Sunday, I attended the Board workshop led by Rabbi Steven Kaye. He asked us to think about the one or two ideas that we would take home with us. For me, it was the realization that we should focus on making stronger connections to our members. This blog is one way to do that. Do you agree? What were your “take home” ideas? Let’s try out this as a forum for discussion.
